This beginner-friendly course offers a structured and detailed introduction to the fundamentals of bookkeeping and accounting. Over six weeks, students will gain essential knowledge and practical skills in recording, classifying, and summarizing financial transactions for businesses. The curriculum includes interactive lectures, hands-on assignments, self-directed study, quizzes, and a comprehensive final exam. Topics range from the basics of business transactions to understanding financial statements and preparing trial balances. Students will utilize Coursera for supplemental course practices to enhance their understanding and apply skills in real-time simulations. Additionally, they will receive certifications in QuickBooks and Sage upon successful completion of platform-specific training modules.

Instructional Format

This course is delivered through a blended learning format combining instructor-led lectures, guided workshops, interactive group discussions, and independent self-study. Each week, students engage in scheduled instructional hours from Monday through Thursday (8:00 AM – 2:00 PM), with structured activities that include real-life case studies, practical ledger work, and software practice via Coursera. Students will complete weekly quizzes and assignments, culminating in a final assessment that tests both conceptual understanding and practical bookkeeping application. Learning is reinforced with the use of digital resources, accounting templates, and real-world finance.

Program Completion

Upon successful completion, students will understand the fundamental principles of bookkeeping, be able to record and analyze basic financial transactions, and demonstrate proficiency in key accounting documents used in day-to-day business operations.
